North Simcoe Care Clinic

The North Simcoe Ontario Health Team has restarted the Care Clinic, a nurse practitioner-based clinic specifically to see and treat coughs and colds. It re-opened on Monday October 30, 2023. You can call the North Simcoe Family Health Team to book an appointment at (705) 526-7804 ext 253, or you can book online. They offer same-day and next-day appointments. The clinic is located at 619 Prospect Boulevard in Midland.

Nurse Practitioner-Led FHT Clinic

The Family Health Team employs a group of nurse practitioners who are trained to diagnose and treat patients for minor issues, and they can order blood tests and write prescriptions. As of 2022, the nurse practitioners are not accepting true walk-ins. Instead they can book you in for an initial telephone appointment and, if indicated, book you for a follow-up appointment soon afterwards in person.

After Hours Clinic

Physicians in the North Simcoe FHO take turns running the after hours clinic on Monday to Thursday evening and on Saturday morning. Minor and time-sensitive issues are best suited to the after hours clinic. We have returned to in-person after hours appointments as of April 2022. The after hours clinic is located within the Remedy’s Rx Huronia Medical Pharmacy at 619 Prospect Boulevard in Midland (next to the Family Health Team ). Click HERE for directions.

To book an appointment, please contact our office and request our staff to book you into that day’s after hours clinic. A relatively new option for booking an appointment is to book online. There will be a few slots available each day for online bookings. Click here to book: bit.ly/northsimcoeahc.

In-Office Walk-In Services

Newborn Weight Check

Newborn babies often need frequent weight checks in the first few weeks. It is recommended to schedule an appointment for these weight checks in order to be seen by the physician and have any questions answered, but another option is to call ahead to schedule a time to drop in for a weight check only.

Allergy Shots

Some patients require allergy shots every 1-2 weeks for many months. Our office can store the allergy serum in our fridge and administer the shots without an appointment.

Immunizations

Our staff can administer immunizations to adults. This includes prescription vaccines such as Twinrix, Prevnar, and Shingrix, as well as other vaccines such as tetanus and influenza. It is recommended that you call ahead to arrange an appropriate time to receive your vaccine. Childhood vaccines should be administered during a well baby or well child appointment with their physician. Please note that our office will not be administering the COVID-19 vaccine due to storage requirements and other logistics.

Urine Dips

If patients suspect that they have a urinary tract infection (UTI), they can call in to the office to request a urine requisition. Our staff will either fax a requisition to the lab or will schedule you a telephone appointment with the physician to discuss your symptoms and decide on whether to prescribe antibiotics before the urine test results are obtained.
