Inpatient Care

If a patient is admitted to the Georgian Bay General Hospital, then they will be attended daily by a physician while they are in hospital. There is a shift toward hospitalist medicine where dedicated physicians take care of inpatients for a week at a time. Some of our patients are now cared for by hospitalists, while others will be seen by one of the physicians in our office. In either case, we know that our patients will receive excellent care. Information about their hospitalization will be sent to our office and attached to their electronic medical records.

It is recommended that patients follow up in clinic within 2 weeks after being discharged home from hospital, and the front staff is aware to make priority appointments for patients who are recently discharged.

We recommend that you carry an updated medication list with you. This helps us provide you with the correct medications in case you are admitted to the hospital. We also encourage you to bring any new medications to your follow-up appointment in the clinic.
